Located at 420 North Allegheny Street, this house is representative of the homes built by Bellefonte Ironmasters in the nineteenth century. It was constructed by Charles McCafferty for George Valentine of the Valentine Iron Company in 1879. It is overall Italianate in style and overall dimensions, with overhanging roof, prominent decorative brackets under the roof line, typical windows, and a square tower. The roof is more steeply pitched than typical Italianate, however.
The stone mansion of George Valentine's brother, Robert Valentine, is half a block north.
