Minutes, November 20, 1992

Present: Mary Parmenter; David Eggler; Dave Trost (President) and Sarah Trost; Helen Bechdel; Alex Dyakiw (Treasurer); Joe Vasey; Carol Burke; and Romayne Naylor (Secretary).
Location: The home of Dave and Sarah Trost

Secretary's Report: The minutes were approved. In re Romayne's unfortunate coffee accident: Dave E. confessed he once molested a copying machine with coffee.

Treasurer's Report: Alex reported Nov. 17 balances of $3,000 in CDs, $7,347 in savings, and $786 in checking, for a total of $11,133.

Old Business: Thanks to all for the splendid turnout at the newcomers’ and thank-you party at the Burkes’ mansion.

We Digressed: A thank you was received from the Summer Sounds Committee, we need light bulbs for the Gamble Mill Gallery, and we discussed alternate gallery space in either the lobby of the Garman Opera House and/or the former Dazzle Me store. Both locations would need lighting and display cases. We could hold classes, demonstrations and, maybe, the film series in the store.

Arts Administrator/Gamble Mill Report: Sarah said Stuart Barr called Joyce about his collection of Bellefonte memorabilia, including paintings, posters, glassware, etc., dating 1848-1948. He would like to do a show. Sarah said this would be a good opening show for an alternate gallery.

We received a $25 membership invoice from Citizens for the Arts in Pennsylvania. Helen made, Mary seconded and we passed a motion to pay the invoice.

The Bellefonte Area Chamber of Commerces invited us to its Dec. 9 Christmas Social.

We received $52 from Tom Nicholas for a painting sold at the Gamble Mill Gallery. Susan Nicholas Gephart has a buyer for one of hers from the same show. Watercolors by Brad Shoemaker of Lewisburg are showing Dec. 5 to Jan. 8. The January show is Bellefonte Artists.

Film Forum: Joe will have a tentative schedule in a couple of weeks. Films will be obtained through the Documentary Film Center in Pittsburgh.

Old House Fair: Sarah reported Melady will try to breathe life into the committee again.

Tiles: Alex said 100 tiles, 20 of them framed, will be ready in early December. Joan will be paid for the drawing.

Fundraising: Jim Dunne told Sarah a fundraising letter should be sent early in the year, so she didn't send them. Helen said, "No. People want to make contributions before the end of the year for tax purposes." It's too late now, but we'll do it earlier next year. This is a contribution, not a membership drive.

Victorian Christmas: True was not present, but all Arts and Crafts Show tables are filled. Romayne said the Gala is set and tickets will be sold in the beginning of December.

Dave has the Borough's Historic Bellefonte booklets for us to distribute. The meeting adjourned at 9 p.m.  The next meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. January 22, 1993 at the Dyakiws.

Notices: Dues are due. Melady has requested members bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the Bellefonte Food Bank.

Sincerely,

Romayne B. Naylor,  Secretary
