Bellefonte Historical and Cultural Association
Bellefonte, Pennsylvania
Minutes of Past Meetings

Minutes: 20 March 1998

Present: Dave Hamilton, Andy Schuyler, Dave Eggler (Treasurer), Mark VanHorn, Romayne Naylor, Sarah Trost (President), Sue Jackson (Vice-president), True Fisher, Jim Dunne, Pat Lace, Gay Dunne, Bob Fenichel, Helen Bechdel and Dave Trost (Secretary)

Locale: Adam & Art, hosted by Jim and Gay Dunne

Minutes: President, Sarah Trost, called the meeting to order at 8:10 P.M. The previous month's minutes were approved with the following corrections: Rob Gannon and Sarah and Dave Trost needed to be added to the list of members present. Bob F. moved for acceptance and Gay seconded.

Treasurer's Report: Dave E. presented the report. Dave T. moved for approval, Romayne seconded.

Arts Administrator's Report: The search continues for a replacement Administrator. One person was interested but declined due to time commitments. A second person may be interested but the name cannot be publicized, pending their decision. Dave E. reviewed the incoming mail and suggested that a member attend "A Conversation on the Arts", presented by Grace Hampton Apr. 7, at the Nittany Lion Inn.

Gamble Mill Gallery: One of the artists for the next installation passed away. Dave E. has a suitable replacement. Announcement to take place at next meeting. (After reviewing my notes I hope I have this correct ... it seems awfully dramatic and I don't recall such drama taking place -- corrections may be in order.)

Old House Fair: Will take place Sat, March 28 at the Courthouse. Food will be on site, prepared by members of the committee. Topics include Stonework, Storage, Homeowners Insurance, Low Maintenance Landscaping and Wood.

Film Forum: Committee had a brainstorming session and yielded some new ideas. Possibilities include a Fred Waring film from Russia, a Mills Bros. Film and filmmakers from Pittsburgh that Rob F. knows.

Summer Sounds from the Gazebo: Sandy Johnston is chairing and performers have been contacted, including Tommy Wareham...despite the ongoing controversy regarding his stipend.

New Business: Since Sarah and Dave Trost will be departing the Bellefonte area for Chicago, they both resigned their current positions in BHCA. Romayne Naylor was nominated and approved as new President and Mark Van Horn was nominated and approved as Secretary. Thanks go to Romayne and Mark for their help.

There will be a Cole Porter and George Gershwin show at the Garman Opera House on May 1 and 2. Members were urged to attend.

Jim Dunne moved to adjourn, and Dave Trost seconded the motion. Next meeting will take place at Rob and True Fisher's on Friday, April 17, 1998.
