Secretary
Present: Cheryl and Paul DeCusati, Romayne Naylor (President), Sue Jackson (Vice-president), Melady Kehm, Rob Gannon, Dave Eggler (Treasurer), Linda and Dave Hamilton, Lisa Horlein (Arts Administrator), Jim Dunne, Candy and Bob Dannaker, True Fisher, Sharon McCarthy, Shyamoli Plassmann, Mark Van Horn
Locale: The DeCusati home
Call to Order: Meeting called to order by Romayne at 8:10 PM.
Minutes: The following corrections were made. There should be no "r" in Coyle. Bauchspise was misspelled. Colina Jordan was overlooked in attendance. Dave E. moved and Dave H. seconded the motion to accept the minutes. The minutes were accepted as corrected.
Treasurer: Dave distributed the financial report and projected the fiscal year to end approximately "even", showing neither profit nor loss. Dave moved on to the topic of Arts Administrator costs (over $400.00) in the administration of local government grants. He asked if we should reserve these funds for these administrative costs. Candy said that if PCA allows it, we should. Jim added that we get a separate grant for this. Lisa said we should wait until Gay is available for her input. We decided to expand on this next month. Dave H. moved to pass the report and Candy seconded. The report was accepted.
Arts Administrator: Lisa reported that she is working on a local government grant. She handed out the mail and mentioned an opportunity for another PCA grant. She also asked if we want to be a member of "Citizens for the Arts in PA". The cost is $45. She said that this is a state lobby and that she thinks this would be worthwhile. Rob agreed and moved to pay the membership fee. Jim seconded and the motion was approved.
BHCA Gallery at Gamble Mill: Dave heard that the opening for the children's show was a success. There will be a new exhibit with flowers that will be called "Springs in Time" starting May 1 with the reception on May 4. Cards for the new show will be mailed out soon.
Old House Fair: No report.
Summer Sounds: Melady reported that six of the nine anticipated groups have already been scheduled; she then read the list of groups. She added that the funding formula has been changed. She is not sure if the change will be a benefit or a disadvantage, but will fill us in after she obtains more information. She also expressed concern with the repair of the High St. bridge being a pedestrian deterrent.
Film Forum: No report.
Library Concerts: Jim said the concert last Sunday went well and was televised. This was the last concert for the season.
Victorian Christmas: True asked if we should consider raising the fee for vendors. After a brief discussion, it was agreed that $100.00 would be acceptable. Vendors who bring their own tables will pay $85.00.
Garden Club: Candy reported that there is a tour on June 20 and hopes for generous coverage by the CDT. Also, on May 20, there will be a talk on herbs which will take place in the library. In addition, she informed us that the borough turned down the wrought iron flower baskets at the courthouse. Finally, the Lion Country Visitors Bureau offered to bring people into Bellefonte for garden tours. This is planned to begin in the summer of 2000.
Local Government Grant: Lisa mentioned that the applications are due on may 5.
Building Lighting: No report.
Old Business:
New Business:
Adjournment: Dave E. moved to adjourn and Mark seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 9:45PM.
