Minutes of October 16, 2009, meeting were approved (Sharon, True)
Treasurer's Report (Dave Eggler): Dave has prepared the annual report for the year ending 8/31/2009 to the Pennsylvania Rural Arts Alliance through our partner, Galaxy. We have been funded for 2009-2010. The treasurer's report (see below) was approved (Gay, Nancy)
Victorian Christmas: Mary has received 28 vendor applications. There was discussion on how to obtain additional vendors through ads and personal phone calls. Romayne has prepared the pork for the food sales in the Elementary School. Sally discussed this year's Christmas ornament which features photographs by Mark Houser. Victorian Christmas placemats will be placed in restaurants. There will be feature articles in Town & Gown, the CDT On Centre and the Bargain Sheet. Ads will appear in The Weekender and Channel 4. The VC site on Bellefonte.com is very appealing. Sally circulated copies of the very attractive VC poster. Following the Opening Ceremony on Friday evening, there will be a choral procession to the Elementary School prior to the presentation of the play Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Towns Women’s Guild Dramatic Society’s Production of the “Christmas Carol” by David McGillvary and Walter Zelin, offered by “Tempest Studio”. There will be many activities on Saturday including concerts from 11 AM to 6 PM in the Trinity United Methodist church and the 25th anniversary concert of the Bellefonte Community Band in the Presbyterian Church at 7:30.
Fund Raising Activities: (Joann) We are now looking at the Artie Shaw Orchestra for $4000 if we can get free B&B for 17 - 18 people. The High School gym works well for this group. We may be able to combine dancing and a concert format. June 9 is a possible date, but HS graduation is June 11. A $25 admission price was suggested. Joann was given approval to proceed by a voice vote.
Gallery at the Gamble Mill: Sharon presented the 2010 exhibition schedule (attached) . The first show (Jan 16 - April 16, reception Tuesday, February 9, 7-9 PM) is entitled "Oeuvres sur Papier", a group show of works on paper coordinated by Mary Vollero and Ellie Taraborrelli.
Dave Kurtz discussed the annual Pennsylvania Cup Series race in Bellefonte. It is an all day introductory Class 1 race that gives the competitors a chance to meet each other, which is unusual in sporting events. Dave would like to have BHCA as a sponsoring organization to help relate the race to the Bellefonte area community. Dave, Jim and Ralph Seeley will meet to discuss the situation and the advantages of a community sponsor.
There was discussion of a fund raising letter. A meeting will be held at the Dunnes on November 18 (Dave Eggler, Jim and Mary) to create a letter.
Next Meeting: Not scheduled
Respectfully submitted,
James Dunne, secretary
