Minutes of Past Meetings
Minutes, April 24, 2009
Location: McCafferty House B & B, home of Dick and JoAnn Knupp
Attendance: Dave Eggler (treasurer and presiding), Mark Houser (arts administrator), Sally Houser, JoAnn Knupp, True Fisher, Gay Dunne, Jim Dunne.
Minutes of March 20, 2009 meeting were approved
Treasurers Report: Dave Eggler presented a report (see below) and pointed out that the BHCA split of the Victorian Christmas Arts & Crafts Show was ~ $1600.
"Journey Through Wonderland," a presentation of Tempest Studios, will be presented in Talleyrand Park and throughout downtown Bellefonte on May 2nd and 3rd. Mark Houser will send an email to the BHCA list with the details.
Old Business: JoAnn reported on the proposed minstrel show. Cynthia Mazzant will be the director. JoAnn plans to send out a letter asking for volunteers. There was a brief discussion about alternatively calling it a Vaudeville show.
Victorian Christmas: Sally Houser is the new chairperson for 2009. She reported that the craft vendors seemed to prefer a one day show, in part because of no lodging costs. VC plans to add Sunday events and concerts. She plans to improve publicity with an emphasis on accurately listing the time of events. There was discussion of the need for a greater variety of crafts, not just Christmas decorations. The Victorian Christmas website will be revised. The house tour was very successful.
Gallery at the Gamble Mill: The opening reception of "The Art of the Bellefonte Schools" on April 21was well-attended. It is a lovely show. The card design by Erin McCall was very much appreciated by the art teachers and the students alike. The show list & images are available on the BHCA website, www.bellefontearts.org. The next show "Ruth Kempner Retrospective" runs from May 31 through September 18. The opening reception is June 2, 7:30 to 9:30 PM. Don't miss it.
