Location:  Home of Carl and Nancy Miller

AttendanceDave Eggler (Treasurer), True Fisher, Lora Gauss, Sally Houser, Dick & JoAnn Knupp (President), Keith Koch, Carl & Nancy Miller, Romayne Naylor (Secretary)

Positive comments were shared regarding the recent Mills Brothers concert.  Thanks to all who made efforts to accomplish its success.

1.       No Secretary Minutes

2.       Treasurer’s Report: Dave- see report below. Fulton Bank became a corporate sponsor for the Mills Bros Concert at $500.  Motion for approval by Carl, seconded by True.

3.       Next exhibit, “Bellefonte Art in the Schools,”  April 16- June 3.  Reception 4/19/11.  Thanks to Jim for hanging the art.

4.       High school report regarding Mills Brothers concert

a.       Ms. Knoffsinger from the High School felt that the light/sound crew should be paid, pointing out that the Artie Shaw helper (first name?) Vonada was not.  JoAnn reports that she personally paid Mr. Vonada

b.      Ms. Knoffsinger submitted two names of persons who worked the Mills Brothers concert, suggesting $7/hr. JoAnn directed Dave to pay them.  The question was raised that if students are doing volunteer hours towards their senior project, should they be paid?  Next year BHCA should find out before- hand if payment for volunteer (if it is such) hours should be paid.  Custodian and electricity bills for the concert were paid.  Facility use was free because BHCA is non-profit.

c.       Robert Sides piano tuning bill for $100 will come.

5.       Antiques & Collectibles Sales, Friday & Saturday, May 13 & 14

a.       Dick Knupp will make posters for window of store

b.      JoAnn has received promises of vintage clothing and a china closet.  Others have items to contribute.  True will check on Margaret Duda’s items.

c.       JoAnn sent around a signup sheet for volunteers for Friday, 8-4 and Saturday 8-1.

d.      Joann asked the group to think about running an Antiques & Collectibles shop full-time at the Allegheny Street location.  Please get back to her with your interest.  Committee would be volunteering hours for its operation.

e.      Publicity for 5/13 & 14 A&C sale to be handled by Sally & Keith

6.       Back to Mills Brothers! Ticket sales in Plumb’s & Woodring stores were good.

a.       Lora has a wonderful new credit card system which helped with those sales.

7.       Dave mentioned a possible new communication system, Yahoo Groups, to replace the email list.  Dave could administrate it.  The group decided to pursue it.

8.       State Farm has a possible arts & cultural grant.  Dave said he’d handle it.

9.       Another funding source was mentioned via Dr. Betsey Eggler, the Mt. Nittany Physician’s Group.

10.   Sally explained that the CCVCB provides grant for publicity inside and ouside the county.  Sally & Keith traced where Vic Cmas Homes Tour visitors came from via a guest book and merchants; and said the funded publicity was very worthwhile.

11.   Romayne suggested that at the next big event we trace visitors via a simple  three question routine as they are given their program,….how many in party, from where, how did they hear about the event.

12.   Summer Sounds from the Gazebo free concerts in Talleyrand Park list will be available soon with completed list, correct spelling, etc.

13.   Ideas for next years’ concert fundraiser included “Chapter 6,” a singing group who does a three day event working with local high school students.  Sally’s seen them in Wellsboro.  She will research it.

14.   “Live on Stage” is a scheduling agency to bring groups to a specific area, such as Central PA.  I Sally said she’d research that too.

15.   Vic Cmas item: Sally and Romayne felt that an earlier vendor application with a discount period should be planned.  They suggesting raising the price to $150 but making the discount period $125, which has been the price for several years.  Information should be mailed to the sellers next month, May, with a deadline for the lower price, possibly August 30.

16.   JoAnn contacted Blft Elks for $1000 for Summer Sounds (Richard Davidson), and she will call soon in case the paperwork has been lost.

17.   Fulton Bank was overlooked in Mills Brothers publicity, so they will get credit in SSG seriers.

18.   Back to Mills Bros.!  The small “mini” poster prepared for restaurants worked out well.  Use that idea again.  Mary will do it for SSG.

19.   Mention made of Guy Rachau Memorial Concert, Sun. April 10, 2pm. PVHS Auditorium

20.   Harp Concert May 15, Trinity Lutheran Church, Camp Hill, 4:00pm hors d’oerves, 5:00pm concert.  Carl gave background & has details if anyone is interested.

21.   Sunday Afternoon at the Library, Rick Hirsch Jazz Ensemble, had a good turnout.  Next SAL concert date is Sunday May 15 at 2:30, Library- museum annex.

22.   Remember to give JoAnn (222-1414) your volunteer hours for the A&C sale, @ 135 S. Allegheny St. on May 13 &14

23.   NEXT MEETING, Friday, May 6 @ 7pm, at the A&C sale site, see address above.  Bring a chair.

24.   Dave moved for adjournment, Keith seconded.

RAPID RECOVERY WISHES TO COLINA!

                                                                        Respectfully submitted

                                                                        Nancy Miller, Acting Secretary
