Present: Romayne Naylor, President, Joseph Griffin, Vice-President, Jim Dunne, Secretary; Dave Eggler, Treasurer; JoAnn Knupp, Melady Kehm, Keith Koch, Patrick North, Avery North, Jeanne Newlin, Joanne Tosti-Vasey, Nancy Perkins, Karen Arnold, Gay Dunne, Mike Prendergast. A quorum was in attendance as defined by the BHCA bylaws.

Minutes – Minutes of 2017-5-12 were approved (Joanne, Joseph).

Treasurer’s Report (Dave Eggler) click here to view the report We did not need to file a BCO-10 form this year because we raised less than $50.000. Last year we needed to file at an expense of $3000. JoAnn said the Garver fund check that we just received was the 2016 check, and we are still awaiting the 2017 check.

Committee Reports
Summer Sounds
(JoAnn Knupp) – It was a good concert season and there was no rain. The average collection from the crowd was about $175. Plans are already underway for 2018: the Lindsay Sister from California who will be in the area during the summer, a steel band, and a service band are under consideration.

Sunday Afternoons at the Library - Sundays, 2:30 PM, Centre County Library Historical Museum
The Autumn Concerts:
    
October 1 - Orenda Duo - Jazz. Original music is the primary focus of the Orenda Duo With the addition of contemporary and familiar jazz standards and unique arrangements of popular song, they perform a program that appeals to a wide audience.
     November 12 - Easterly Chamber Players.
Classical and contemporary music arranged for this unique ensemble

Poetry (Patrick) - Out Loud is requesting $300 to support the professionals that are presenting this year. A motion to approve $300 passed (Joseph, Gay). 2017-8 schedule attached [see Poetry on bellefontearts.org].

Old House Fair (Joseph) - Joseph suggested that we share the financial loss with the Centre County Historical Society. Dates for next year: June 8,9, 2018. There will be no bus tour.

Historic Preservation (Jeanne) - Gamble Mill: A couple has submitted a proposal. They will need to go through the Bankruptcy Court as was done with the previous proposal.
     Friends Burial Ground: Baltimore Friends Meeting has examined the wall and may help with the cost of the repairs. There is a small trust fund that will be transferred to the Baltimore Meeting. It might qualify as a contributing historic structure.
     The 1772 Foundation:
Farmland Protection in the Northeast; Historic Properties Redevelopment Programs (revolving funds) nationwide. The 1772 Foundation works to ensure the safe passage of our historic buildings and farmland to future generations. WWW.1772FOUNDATION.ORG Joseph will write a letter of grant inquiry by October 6. There was discussion about a Rod Beard proposal to renovate the Crider Exchange. BHCA may write a letter to support the Request for Proposal at some future time.
     HB453
is in the PA Senate. It drastically reduces or eliminates funding from the PHMC budget for the Keystone Recreation, Park, and, Conservation Fund and the Historic Preservation Fund. The Keystone Fund supports the Keystone Historic Preservation grant program and other initiatives. A motion to have BHCA write Senator Corman and Representative Benninghoff to oppose HB453 was passed (Joanne, Joseph). Copy of letter attached.

Talleyrand Park (True) – No report.

New Business – Brief discussion about a party to attract new members. Can we get addresses on new arrivals to town through real estate transfers at the courthouse?

Next BHCA Meeting: 7 PM Thursday, October 12 at the Train Station. This will be the annual meeting with elections of Officers and Board of Directors.
